Last week (3rd July 2019) The Prince’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts played host to a private VIP view of its annual Degree Show at Charlotte Road. In attendance was Lord Snowdon, Vice President of The Prince’s Foundation, alongside donors, stakeholders and patrons as well as students, their guests and staff.
The Prince’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts annual Degree Show features works including stained glass, painting, ceramics, architecture and geometry by students from across the globe and is available to view until 12 July. Exhibitors at this year’s show are graduates of the school’s two-year Masters Degree programme who come from all over the world, including Portugal, United States, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Iran, China, Tibet, Taiwan and the UK.
Lord Snowdon met with each graduate who imparted their wisdom on the range of traditional arts and crafts alongside associated philosophies. Lord Snowden also presented the Ciclitira Prize to Lucy Moorish.
“Those exhibiting have absorbed the traditional skills and ethos and succeeded in making beautiful and meaningful work that speaks to a contemporary audience. Their work will reflect skills fundamental to the arts of many of the great traditions of the world,” says Simon Trethewey, director of studies at The Prince’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts.
