Degree Show 2014

Graduating students of the School's postgraduate programme will exhibit their work to the public in the annual degree show from Monday 30th June to Friday 11th July.

This year's exhibition will showcase the work of seven MA students and two students from our Brunei exchange programme. Our students have a fascinating range of interests, from zouaq, traditional Moroccan painting, to mangour, a wood joinery technique from the Hijaz. They are investigating the symbolic patterns and imagery from ancient craft traditions, such as the carpets woven by nomadic Islamic cultures or the Pueplo pottery of Southwest Native Americans. Their exhibition promises to be a very rich and inspiring showcase of the traditional arts and crafts.

The exhibition also represents an opportunity to gain a rare insight into the School's exciting portfolio of outreach work. This year we had our first engagement with the Ahousat First Nations community in Canada. We have also begun an extensive curriculum development programme with primary schools in the UK on the theme of Harmony. Work from these projects, along with the highlights from the rest of the programme, will be exhibited at the degree show.

The exhibition will take place in the gallery at 19-22 Charlotte Road from 10am to 8pm Monday to Friday and from 9am to 5pm on Saturday 5th July (the show will close at 1pm on Friday 11th July).
