Exhibition: Echoes of Contemplation

We are delighted to announce that alumna, Dr Veeda Ahmed, will exhibit her work at the School from 11 - 20 October 2017. She will also teach a miniature painting course in conjunction with the exhibition entitled Miniature Painting: Neem Rang and Siyah Qalam Technique.

On her exhibition, the artist writes:

Echoes of Contemplation is a contemporary body of work that draws from the knowledge of historical writings, techniques, materials and the working practices of the old miniature painters. This way of painting has been absorbed in my work over many years of practice and learning with the remaining masters of this ancient craft. In order to keep this tradition alive it is crucial to continue to use these techniques and also to share the knowledge with the coming generation of artists. Although time consuming, if we continue to incorporate these age old techniques in our artwork today, the amazing luminosity that is found in old miniature paintings can be retained for generations to come.
