Making a wooden bowl - woodcarvers from the School's craft regeneration project in Jamaica

The Prince's School has been working with a group of wood carvers at Rose Hall, Jamaica for several years. This tight-knit group of artisans have been working together on the Rose Hall property since they were children. They grew up climbing some of the trees they now use in their work. The team carefully chooses beautiful pieces of mahogany, mahoe, darkwood, lignum vitae and cedar to work with. The carvers are currently producing a series of tableware bowls using three different motifs in a distinctive Jamaican style inspired by the natural environment.
