Amber Khokhar

An artist, designer and teacher, Amber graduated from Central Saint Martin’s School of Art before studying for her Master’s at The Prince’s School of Traditional Arts.

Amber works from her studio in London, commissioned by private and public clients for her distinctive hand-painted art and designs. Her clients include The Islamic Art Museum, Malaysia; Rolls Royce; Aintree University Hospital, Liverpool; Islamia Girls’ School and Warren Park Children’s Centre.

Her work has been exhibited at The Queen’s Museum of Art, New York; The Red Gallery, Shoreditch; and the William Morris Gallery, London.

When HRH The Prince of Wales saw Amber’s watercolour designs for silk and wool carpets, Gardens Under Which Rivers Flow, he commissioned her to design the first modern carpet for Buckingham Palace. Her 40-metre carpet runs along the floor of The Picture Gallery where George IV’s collection of paintings by Holbein, Rubens, Rembrandt, Canaletto and Van Dyke (among others) is hung.

Amber is now a tutor on the MA course at the School of Traditional Arts. She also teaches on the ‘World Art and Artefacts Programme’ at Birkbeck College, University of London.
